John Lukas, Senior Pastor
John and his wife Pam have been at Calvary Chapel of the Foothills since 1998. Previously, John was on staff at Calvary Chapel Grass Valley for 10 years, serving as the Men's Ministry Pastor, as the main counseling Pastor, and overseer of all Church outreaches and functions.
John, and Pam, his wife of 34 years, early on in their marriage were deeply involved in several "isms" like Hinduism, Buddhism and Vegetarianism, until finally discovering God's love for them through Jesus Christ, His Son.
John's calling by God to be a teacher to His Flock is seen in his deep involvement with every Calvary Chapel of the Foothills function, outreach, and activity to ensure that God is first in everything the church does.
God's teaching style through John is best described as one dedicated to allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal to God's People the Bible's great truths and lessons that He has for us. As God leads him through his studies of His Word, we are treated with learning about God's Word and gleaning applications for our daily lives.
John provides the fellowship with relative and simple understanding of God's word. This has produced at Calvary Chapel of the Foothills a strong emphasis on the “servanthood” of all the believers and the reaching our world with the Gospel.
John loves teaching God's word, loves to see men and women respond to The Word and The Holy Spirit, as their lives are changed and transformed into the Image of Jesus Christ. John also has a heart for missions, encouraging the church to participate in short term missions for God's people.
Pastor John is a reserve chaplain for the El Dorado County Sheriffs Department, serving our law enforcement and community, and provides the hope of Jesus Christ for anyone in our community going through a crisis.
John & Pam have been married for 34 years, have two wonderful grown children who are married, and three grandchildren, they live in Folsom & Roseville. To relax John likes to fly fish and work with wood, and ride his road bike.
